Entry to Austria
• Australian nationals can travel visa-free for up to 90 days in an 180-day period.

• Land borders remain accessible. However, Austrian authorities may conduct sporadic inspections, particularly along the borders adjoining Slovakia, Hungary, and Slovenia.

• Passports are required when crossing borders within the Schengen area.

• Conditions of entry may change abruptly.

• No mandatory requirements.

Departure from Austria
• Passports are required when crossing borders within the Schengen area.

Important note Austria Tourist Visa Exemption

Kiribati passport holders are visa exempted for up to 90 days provided the traveller:

  • hold a valid passport with a validity of at least 6 months with minimum 2 blank visa pages
  • have sufficient funds for the trip
  • have proof of onward/return flights
  • have all necessary documents for the purpose of entry

Need a visa to stay beyond the exempted period ?

The Embassy of Austria requires that the applicant submit their visa application directly if the applicant wishes to stay beyond the exempted period.
