Before Entering to Sri Lanka- All travellers:
1. Are unable to obtain visas on arrival.
2. Must present a negative COVID-19 (PCR) test report in English when checking in. The test must be conducted within 72 hours of your international departure or you will be unable to board your flight. (All travellers excluding children below 12 years)
3. If you're fully vaccinated you must carry proof of your vaccination status in English.
4. Must visit to pay for COVID 19 Local Insurance Cover which will be MANDATORY From 1st January 2022
5. Fully vaccinated travellers if accompanied by not-vaccinated/not-fully vaccinated children of 12-18 years, pay for on-arrival PCR test at USD 40 per test. Travelers can pay for PCR test at the Ministry of Health approved laboratory established at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) or any other MOH approved laboratory. Also, travellers can visit to pay in advance.
6. Completed Health Declaration Form. A separate form should be submitted for each of the accompanying children (if any). With effect from 2022.01.01, all travellers arriving in Sri Lanka via airports shall mandatorily fill the Online Health Declaration Form individually and upload the relevant documents (Vaccination record, Predeparture COVID- 19 negative test report, Data page of the Passport etc.) prior to boarding. Fully Vaccinated Travellers
1. Travellers who have completed 14 days after the recommended doses of COVID-19 vaccination and arriving with a negative COVID-19 PCR test report obtained within 72 hours of embarkation will be considered as fully vaccinated travellers. Any vaccination type accepted by the country of origin will be accepted.
2. Children of 12-18 years, if depart two weeks after obtaining at least a single dose of Pfizer Vaccine, will be considered as Fully Vaccinated.

Australians require a visa to travel to Sri Lanka.

You need to obtain an eVisa prior to your departure recommended. Australians will need to obtain an eVisa (Electronic Visa). You can extend your stay whilst in Sri Lanka for up to a maximum of 2 months at the Department of Immigration Emigration.


Australians are among the eligible countries that can apply for an Sri Lanka eVisa. The eVisa is available for both Tourist and Business.

Children under age of 12 are waived the eVisa fee.

Transit eVisa is free of charge for all nationals, but you are still required to submit the online ETA application.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We recommend that you apply for the eVisa through a visa agency as most evisa fees are non refundable and there is limited visa support to applicants. Through a visa agent you can be assured that your application meets the current requirements and is obtained correctly.

All travellers are required to comply with the visa requirements. This will prevent your visa application from being rejected or delayed.


Please ensure your original passport has a validity of at least 6 months with a minimum of 2 blank visa pages. This will avoid any complications at the airport check-in, customs and immigration checkpoints.

Passport conditions that may affect the assessment of your visa application and potentially being denied entry into the country:

  • Expired passport or due to expire before arrival or during your trip.
  • Water damaged passport that cannot be scanned to identify the person.
  • Cut or torn passports depending on the degree of the damage may be considered void.

Visa Application Form

Please note when completing the visa application form, an incomplete or incorrect completion of the visa application form can cause delays, in certain cases you may be required to complete a new visa application form.


You need to provide a recent passport size colour photo taken within the last 6 months.

Flight Itinerary

You are required to provide a copy of your flight itinerary showing your full name, with details of your entry and exit dates.

Supporting Document

You may be required to provide additional supporting documents depending on the type of visa you apply.


Children under 12 years of age needs to comply with the same visa requirements as adults.

Unaccompanied minors

A letter of consent by the parents may be required. In some circumstance, additional supporting documents may need to be submitted with the application.
